CUSTOM WOOD FLOORING

Being a homeowner in Florida, you learn to prepare for the occasional hurricane scare. The typical checklist includes hurricane shutters, flood and storm insurance, backup generators and trustworthy contractors to repair storm damage.

The silver lining to a home damaged by a hurricane is the opportunity to upgrade roofs, rooms, windows and floors. Dr. Andrea Deratany Blasy’s beachside home felt the wrath of Hurricane Matthew. The parquet wood floors in her large family room had finally met their match with water damage and needed to be replaced.

“This house was built in the sixties by quality craftsmen,” Blasy said. “It has withstood many hurricanes. Fortunately, I knew the modern day craftsman that would make the floors in my home even better than before…Don Herndon with Classic Wood Flooring.”

Classic Wood Flooring Carpet and Tile Design Center has installed quality floors in homes across Brevard since 1971. Their showroom on U.S. Highway 1 showcases flooring options that are engineered to last in Florida’s challenging climate.

When Blasy visited the showroom to replace her beloved parquet floor, Herndon knew it had to be something special.

“Years ago we’d installed travertine tile in Andrea’s home,” he said. “So we’d been in the house and I could already visualize the space and what wood flooring options would look great.”

The floor Blasy eventually chose was a premium 5-inch Brazilian cherry floor – a stunning wood with inviting warmth and upscale character. The team at Classic Wood Flooring had to remove existing wood flooring that was damaged from the hurricane. Upon removing the wood flooring, they found the plywood subfloor was also damaged. They leveled and replaced the subfloor prior to gluing down the new, prefinished Brazilian cherry flooring.

“In spite of the additional damage discovered, Don and his crew put in the extra work to make sure the floors were perfect,” said Blasy. “It is very difficult to find that level of professionalism and commitment these days. They are true gentlemen of the trade.”

Over the many years serving the area, Classic Wood Flooring Carpet and Tile Design Center has built its reputation on customer satisfaction and superior design. Owned and operated by Don and Julie Herndon, Classic Wood Flooring Carpet and Tile Design Center is licensed, insured and a member of the Brevard Home Builders Association and the National Wood Flooring Association, the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Business Bureau.
