Wood Flooring Trends Are Transforming Interiors

Since 1971, Classic Wood Flooring Carpet & Tile Design Center has built its reputation on customer satisfaction, superior design service and quality installation. Classic Wood Flooring is the area’s largest wood flooring showroom and on top of current flooring trends…and especially wood flooring trends.
We meet with flooring industry top performers, manufacturers and distributors every year and compare notes on all the latest styles and trends in flooring.  That’s why Classic Wood Flooring attracts the most demanding homeowners and homebuilders around. Even from Orlando.
One of the most recognized and awarded luxury homebuilders in our area is Christopher Burton Homes. Their design team works with Classic Wood Flooring to integrate new and exciting flooring that can be seen in their model homes built in some of central Florida’s most notable neighborhoods.
Some of the hot trends in flooring start with colors. Cool tones including blacks, grays and whitewashes are the current rage. Dark woods provide an elegance and rich depth to rooms while lighter or natural woods open up space and look more casual.  On top of this trend, we find that warm wood tones continue to be a staple still used in new homes and home renovations.
When it comes to floor finishes, shiny and semi-gloss are semi-out. Satin and matte finishes are in. A softer distressed wood look is also popular using a wire brushed effect — an etched look that gives subtle texture while still keeping a smoother, shabby chic look.  It also helps to hide dirt and imperfections.
Wood size matters. Plank width size has been increasing. We’re seeing more styles offered in 7 to 7 ½” planks and even widths up to 12 inches.  Along with wider planks, longer lengths are also in demand as is random or mixed width wood planks.  These floors tend to have the square edges with no bevels.
How about the luxury wood look without the premium wood cost?  Luxury vinyl planks is one way to go.  It is quickly becoming a permanent fixture in the flooring world. And the best thing about it is it looks completely natural. No one would ever guess it is vinyl.  Definitely not your granddad’s legacy vinyl, luxury vinyl planks work great in high traffic or high moisture areas.
Wood-look porcelain tile is still very popular since its introduction several years ago. High definition porcelain tile offers availability in many styles, affordability, durability and water resistance, creativity and versatility on where and how it can be used.  They are eco-friendly and even certified for good indoor air quality.
