MELBOURNE, Fla.(November 21, 2017) – Health First has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations. The movement encourages philanthropy and celebrates generosity worldwide.
Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is slated for November 28 this year, on the heels of widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The movement is designed to kick off the holiday giving season by inspiring people to collaborate on improving their local communities and give back in impactful ways, through charities and causes they support.
All gifts received on #GivingTuesday will directly benefit the patients and families of Hospice of Health First and its programs that serve our community. This includes the Bright Star Center for Grieving Children and Families, a program offering specialized youth programs for grief and loss, encouraging expression through creative and positive play in a peer setting.
“We are excited to participate in Giving Tuesday and highlight the excellent work being done at Hospice of Health First and Bright Star,” said Michael Seeley, President, Health First Foundation. “The people of Brevard County have always shown that they have big hearts, and we encourage them to give on this special day to a cause that impacts so many of us and our loved ones.”
Hospice of Health First has served Brevard for more than 35 years as a leading provider of compassionate and skilled hospice care. Bright Star opened in 2001.
To help further educate the community on all Hospice of Health First does, an Open House will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on #GivingTuesday at their facility, 1131 W. New Haven Ave., West Melbourne. A free continental breakfast will be served from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and food trucks will be available for cash purchase over lunch, between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
