A Room With a View

You’re hard pressed to find one without one in the Merritt Island home of Dr. Daryl and Kimberly Turner.

Thanks to vast expanse of windows throughout their classically inspired home built in 2009, the Turners enjoy spectacular sunrises and serene sunsets.  “It’s absolutely beautiful,” says Kimberly. “There’s something very serene about being surrounded by water (The Indian River to the west the Banana River to the east). Because the house sits on a hill of coquina rock 25 feet above sea level, almost every room offers a panoramic opportunity to enjoy nature’s splendor.  “We knew we wanted to be near the water,” says Kimberly, a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, “and we knew we wanted a lot of room for the kids.”  Kimberly and Daryl, an emergency medicine physician, share their home with their three children, Jeffery, Daryl Jr. and Darren.  The four and a half acre property includes a tennis court and expansive outdoor area featuring a swimming pool and all-inclusive summer kitchen, just one of the areas the couple takes advantage of when they entertain several times throughout the year.

Reflecting their worldwide travels “every room tells a story of where we’ve been.” Trompe ‘loeil inspired by Kimberly and created by local artist Sylvia Marks is featured on ceiling areas throughout the home.

“We never knew how much of a magnet this area would be when we entertain,” says Kimberly. “People just congregate here, it’s easy for them to interact.”
