Space Coast Living – Our Choice, Our Pride

Today’s mobile society provides unlimited options and choices for where to live, where to work, where to eat, where to shop, where to visit. For over half a million of us, we choose to call the Space Coast “home.” Perhaps it was a job that brought us here, maybe we grew up here, or it’s where we decided to retire — regardless of the circumstances, together we form a dynamic and unique community.

From a diverse population that consists of rocket scientists to surfers (including rocket scientists who surf) to engineering students to military retirees, we manage to come together to create a quality of life that is second to none. Our pride in our space program, our commitment to a quality educational system, and our stewardship of the area’s environmental ecosystem helps provide the foundation of a community that values and supports its neighbors through generosity and philanthropy.

Since 2003, SpaceCoast Living has had the privilege to serve our community — to share its successes and shine a spotlight on the people, organizations and events that make it great. We believe our highest calling is “to celebrate and inspire the best of Brevard County,” and we take this responsibility seriously and try our best to lead by example.

“We are humbled and motivated to serve by the people in our community who share their time, talents, and treasures to make Florida’s Space Coast the best place in the world to live, work, and play.”

Personally, I am encouraged to see new leaders emerging and stepping up to serve our community, and I couldn’t be more proud of our own senior editor, Rebecca Shireman, for her recent recognition as a “4 Under 40” award winner for her leadership and contributions. Rebecca and many of her peers have choices on where to live, where to put down their roots, where to give back, and where to build their legacies. Thank goodness for all the rest of us they choose the Space Coast.

If you share this local pride, if you choose Space Coast living over residing anywhere else, we want to hear from you. Tell us why you love the Space Coast, share your suggestions and story ideas on our Facebook page or send me a personal note or email.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you around town,
