Dolly Wolf’s love of glass art is unwavering

“Since I was a child going to antique shows with my mother in New York City I have been passionately in love with glass and color. I knew one day I would be creating my life’s passion,” she says.

Her childhood instincts were right. For over 34 years, Wolf has been crafting custom stained-glass pieces for homes, businesses and outdoor settings ranging in intricacy from textured glass to custom-designed transformative works. Wolf’s storefront and studio, D&L Stained Glass, which is located on U.S. 1 in Melbourne, includes a room just for glass that can be custom matched to a piece of fabric, wallpaper, greeting card or photo. “One of my strengths is the ability to visualize a completed piece before it is even a pattern,” she says.

Wolf reflects on an elaborate piece that she created for a private residence in Melbourne which consists of three stained-glass continuous panels depicting a peacock resting among marble columns overlooking a “Tiffany-style” lotus and koi-filled pond. “The marble columns and arches were enhanced with grapes and twisted vines,” she explains. “We incorporated mostly amber colors – my client’s favorite color. I love challenges, and this certainly was one.”

The artist’s talents are not devoted to large-scale pieces alone, however. D&L Stained Glass carries numerous smaller pieces including picture frames, sun catchers, lamps, trinkets and more.

And for those who want to try their hand at glass artistry, Wolf offers beginner classes on a monthly basis, as well as an assortment of over 30 advanced workshops with specific areas of focus, such as “3D Whimsy,” “Angel Votive” and “Vintage Windows.”

“We are always having fun in a relaxing, stress-free atmosphere where you can just let go! I create every one-of-a-kind work of art as if it were for me,” Wolf says. “All of ‘me’ goes into my work.”
