Cocoa, FL – Do you have the summer “off” or one day during the week? Consider making a difference in the lives of the frailest of our county’s elder citizens by delivering a meal. Whether you can be a substitute when needed, deliver once a week for a couple of hours or a couple of days each week, if you are 18 or older, Aging Matters in Brevard could use your help this summer. We need Meals on Wheels’ drivers to cover while our regular volunteers take their summer vacations.
“When you deliver Meals on Wheels and give to another, the pleasure of your smile and the comfort of a warm meal, then that pleasure and comfort returns to you,” stated longtime volunteer Marvel Jenkins of Merritt Island. Marvel and her husband, George, have volunteered for almost 20 years delivering meals to Brevard seniors. She laughingly shares her memory of retiring and looking for an activity they could do together.
“We rely on volunteers so we can feed as many people as possible. Their service is essential to our program and truly saves lives,” stated Don Lusk, Vice President of Operations for Aging Matters in Brevard.
Volunteer opportunities await you in the Meals on Wheels program. All volunteers have a background check. Make a difference in a life, consider volunteering this summer! Call Paula at (321) 806-3741 for additional information or to join the Aging Matters in Brevard volunteer team!
