The locally-owned restaurant concept is bringing hand-made bagels, cold brew coffee, signature sandwiches and more to PSJ.

Port St. John, Fla. (January  27, 2017) —  Bagel 13 is excited to open the doors to their latest addition in Port St. John, on Friday, January 27th, at 6725 N. Cocoa Blvd (US1).This new location will be open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. The idea behind Bagel 13, which touts the phrase “It’s Your Lucky Day”, comes from the luck in the thirteenth bagel in the “baker’s dozen”. That extra bagel represents the extra mile this restaurant is willing to go for their customers and food quality.

Local owners, Jessie and Shawn Landry, pride themselves on their “house-made” menu. “We make everything fresh from our own bakery, including boiling and baking our bagels every morning, and home making the dressings and sauces from scratch.  I think people in the Brevard County area are looking for this type of quality, and that’s why we have had the opportunity to expand quickly,” Jessie said.

Additional favorite menu items include homemade chicken salad and egg salad, along with  turkey and roast beef, which are brined for 24 hours and house roasted.

“Some of our customer favorites were inspired by real life memories that Shawn and I share,” explains Jessie. “For example, the idea for Bagel 13’s Muffuletta sandwich came from the trips we have taken to New Orleans.  It’s wonderful to see people enjoying something that came from a moment close to our hearts.”

Other customer choices include a Blackened Ahi Tuna Melt, and unique side items like the Smash Brown, a red skin potato that is panini-pressed until hot and crispy and sprinkled with sea salt. More traditional fare, such as house-cured Lox on a bagel of your choice, or an Eggel Bagel (made-to-order, farm fresh egg, cheese and meat sandwich), are the tried and true standards.

Bagel 13 has also made it a priority to stay involved with the local community and plan to continue that passion with their new PSJ neighbors. The restaurant recently supported the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival, Cocoa Beach’s Community Fests, and is proud to sponsor events with the Women’s Center.

“This place is our home, and it’s quickly becoming the foundation for our dream as well,” says Jessie. “We take pride in being able to show up for our community in as many ways as possible, and we are excited to expand our service to Port St. John.”
