Enjoy an evening baseball game with your four-legged companions at Bark in the Park at Space Coast Stadium. The Brevard County Manatees are teaming up with the Brevard Humane Society for its annual Bark in the Park night. There will be plenty of activities for your pets to keep them relaxed during the game for a wonderful and fun outing with the whole family.

The event begins with the pre-game TAILgate lure course, opening an hour before the game starts. A pet lover’s vendor showcase, taking place on the Berm, will feature dog treats sold by Yellow Dog Café. All dog treat proceeds benefit the Brevard Humane Society and dog owners will receive a ticket for a complimentary glass of wine at Yellow Dog Café. Also on the Berm will be vendors like K9 Kampus and “green” carpet photo shoots with Manny the Manatee. manatees2

The game will begin with the ceremonial first fetch, where the pitcher will throw a baseball for a dog to retrieve. Between innings, a canine agility performance by Cooper Petrillo (SpaceCoast Living’s Pet Cover Search winner) will take place, along with adopt-a-dog shows presented by the Brevard Humane Society.

“During the adopt-a-dog shows on the third base line, we share about the dogs, where they come from – usually transferred from kill shelters to no-kill shelters – and we hope somebody that evening will adopt them,” said Jennifer Garcia, director of community relations and promotions at Space Coast Stadium. Jennifer also mentioned that squishy baseballs would be thrown into the Berm, “like T-shirt tosses for people.”

“The attendance for our last Bark in the Park this past April was the best attended Bark in the Park and it only continues to grow each year,” said Jennifer. “The Brevard Humane Society, while every dollar amount helps, gets supported in other ways at this event – by getting exposure and having pets adopted. The society benefits from getting in front of over 1,000 people that evening.”

The gates to the stadium will open at 4 p.m. and the game will begin at 5 p.m. All dogs that plan on attending must be on a leash with a county tag and have proof of up-to-date shots. Tickets are available online only at Groupmatics.events/Bark.
