The company was founded in 1985 by Colleen and Edward Barneman. With Colleen’s background in accounting, and Edward’s hard work ethic and business leadership, the company enjoyed many successes throughout the 80s and 90s working with some of the biggest and best builders in the area. In the early 2000s, the direction of the company changed to meet the needs of the growing building industry in the area. Now under the direction of Colleen and Robert (Edward and Colleen’s son), BSS Exteriors branched out into other trades including screens, shutters, gutters and windows/doors. e strong foundation and diversified product offering that kept BSS Exteriors a successful company. In 2014, BSS Exteriors branched out into manufacturing their own storm protection. Much like Edward’s vision in 1985, BSS Exteriors strives to provide a manufactured shutter that utilizes expert precision along with real-world experience of installations. Robert has identified a major need in the shutter manufacturing market for a manufacturer that fully supports the installer from quote to completion.
