Create A Fabric Landscape Class with Dorothy Hulse
If you’ve ever wanted to create an art quilt, but don’t like to sew, the Studios of Cocoa Beach has a class for you! On Saturday September 7, 2019 from 10 am to 4 pm the Studios at 165 Minuteman Causeway in Cocoa Beach is hosting a Fabric Art Landscape class with Doris Hulse. Learn to “paint” with fabric and colored pencils using a fused raw edge appliqué technique, and create dimension by exploring color values and atmospheric perspective. No sewing involved. Stencils and scraps will add the details, and students will go home with a finished panel ready to hang or mat and frame. The instructor will provide the base panel, fusible and Inktense pencils, but students should bring their own fabrics…
Central Florida artist Doris Hulse created traditional quilts for 20 years, before discovering the world of “art quilting” in 2011. Doris works from photographs using hand-dyed and batik fabrics, transparent paints, watercolor pencils and raw edge appliqué. She is a member of the Studio Art Quilters Association (SAQA) and her work has been exhibited in regional, national and international juried shows.
Fee for the class is $65, due by August 24, 2019, plus a $15 materials fee paid to the instructor on day of class. Students will receive a materials list upon registration but should plan to bring fabric and scissors. Register online at https://www.studiosofcocoabeach.org.
