Roast Beef on Kummelweck

Mainstreet Pub Values Food and Fun

Mainstreet Pub opened in March of 2005, a little over 10 years ago. Since then, the atmosphere and nightlife in the area has changed dramatically but the quality of food, drink and service at Mainstreet has not.

Although well known for the fresh squeezed cocktails (more on those later), the food is not to be forgotten. The Roast Beef on Kummelweck sandwich is the restaurant’s top seller.

“We slow cook the roast beef for hours and serve it on a caraway seeded and kosher salted bun with a side of au jus and horsey sauce,” said Manager Lena Genovese.

Two other popular items are the Cuban sandwich and fish tacos.

“I once had a friend want me to cater her wedding with our Cubans she loved them so much.” – Lena Genovese

The fish tacos are seasoned just right and the homemade sauce to go with them has just the right amount of heat in it. If you love salads, the new Cran-Apple Salad has an amazing apple vinaigrette, almonds and blue cheese crumbles top it off.

Fish lovers should also try the Miso Mahi Sandwich that includes a miso glazed mahi filet with asparagus spears and a peanut dusting on a sub roll, served with a side of lightly spiced seafood aioli.

As mentioned, the fresh squeezed cocktails are what made Mainstreet “famous.” That means a margarita is not coming out of a pre-mixed bottle; it is made fresh right in front of you.

“We have some fantastic libations, but our Orange Crush is by far the most popular cocktail and is made with fresh squeezed orange juice, orange flavored vodka and a few other secret ingredients,” Lena explained.

Or select from an extensive selection of single malts, whiskies, rums and tequilas — any and all mixers are made from fresh fruit.

You can sip your drink of choice at any of the three different bars, giving you the experience of bar hopping without actually having to leave. “This is a fun concept that not many other establishments have,” said Lena.

Downstairs there’s the “Whiskey Bar,” complete with a copper bar and decorated with historic Melbourne photos. An outdoor porch with a side semi-private area holds darts, a television and even catered parties. Upstairs, you can sip your martini in the black lit “Lava Bar” with an outdoor deck overlooking the historic Downtown. This space also transforms into a private room to host a private party or corporate function utilizing both the indoor bar and outdoor deck areas.

Lastly, the most popular bar is the outdoor “Tiki Bar” that serves libations such as mojitos and frozen drinks. Live bands play there every Friday night and it takes you on a vacation without actually having to go anywhere.
