Melbourne, FL, June 8, 2018– The Space Coast Women In Defense (SCWID) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2018 STEM Scholarship awards. SCWID has established a scholarship program to encourage women in Brevard County, Florida to pursue careers related to the national security and defense interests of the United States and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
SCWID awarded 9 scholarships from $500 to $1,000 to the following individuals: Leonia Hunt, Minh-Chau Le, Siaunna Jenkins, Madison Roth, Zaafira Haque, Sara Malmquist, Julianna Chaput, Julianna Quinn and Jennifer Pfrimmer.
The scholarship recipients will be recognized at an awards ceremony on June 27, 2018 at the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce Viera location at The Avenue Viera, 2261 Town Center Ave., Suite 103, Viera, FL. Keynote speaker, Lori Scott, Supervisor of Elections, will speak about the “Benefits of Building Strong Professional Networks.”
This annual event is open to the public. People may register to attend this event at www.scwid.org. Cost for WID members is $20 and $25 for non-WID members; light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Established on January 21, 2013, SCWID is a non-profit professional networking and development organization for women and men across Florida’s Space Coast who contribute to national defense and security. The organization chartered the Space Coast STEM Education Council on October 14, 2013, and strives to connect STEM needs with STEM resources from our partners including local Industry, colleges and universities, civic leaders, parents, and students.
